Commercial Translations via API.Bible
Five of our translations — CSB, NASB, NKJV, NLT, and ESV — are made available through our partnership with API.Bible, the industry-standard Scripture API. This integration gives us access to high-quality, licensed text from major publishers including Thomas Nelson, Holman Bible Publishers, and Crossway.
Citations in Verse Art
As part of our licensing agreements, every verse art image you create using a commercial translation now includes a proper citation. For example, NKJV verses carry a compact inline notice right below the verse:

This clean, unobtrusive format ensures our community can share beautiful Scripture images while honoring the publishers who make these translations available.

Public Domain: World English Bible (WEB)
The World English Bible (WEB) stands apart as a completely public-domain translation, freely available for everyone to read, share, and distribute without restrictions.
Started by Michael Paul Johnson in the 1990s, the WEB is a modern formal-equivalence translation based on the 1901 American Standard Version. The New Testament draws from the Byzantine Majority Text, while the Old Testament relies primarily on the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, with input from the Septuagint and Dead Sea Scrolls. After decades of careful revision, the complete Bible was finalized in 2020.
Because the WEB is in the public domain, you can create and share verse art from it freely — no citation line required. It’s also the translation powering the Hey Bible Podcast, since we can distribute the audio without licensing restrictions.
